Yola grew up in Lebanon. As a young 14-year-old struggling during the Lebanese Civil War, she was vulnerable to forces beyond her control and was abducted from school and forced into marriage to a man twenty years her senior. She was held captive as a teenage mother and wife until she made her escape to the United States.
In the United States, Yola began her long journey to freedom from poverty, abuse, stigma, lack of education, battered woman’s syndrome, living from women’s shelters to basements, to college without a high school diploma, to having multiple careers as dental hygienist and empowerment life coach.
A shared life is a life of miraculous metamorphosing through the doors of cruelty, coercion, persecution, hardship and isolation to rise above it all stepping into the Soul. The struggle never ends… Yola lost her beloved daughter on October 14, 2020 but the way we deal with the trials and tribulations does change.
Forgiveness and Self-Love are the keys to the Divine. When we learn to journey over this bridge, we reach Inner-Peace allowing us to react in a much healthier way.
